We need to keep our sanity while we\u2019re staying at home and we\nneed to keep communicating and staying in touch with friends, family and work colleagues.\nIt is essential that although we\u2019re being asked to stay inside our houses, that\nwe don\u2019t lose touch with those that are important to us or our sanity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve put together a short list of some of our favourite apps to use during this period where we can\u2019t communicate in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Houseparty <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

THE\nHOUSEPARTY APP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Houseparty is an app that allows you to have open door\ncommunication with all of your friends and family while you\u2019re working from\nhome \u2013 it even includes an open door policy in which you can leave your chat\nunlocked which allows others online to pop in for a chat if they feel like it.\nOr you can lock your room to have a private video chat with family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s ideal for talking to all your friends and family at once\nand you can see them all at the same time, unlike some other apps\navailable.  An ideal app whether you want\nto have a virtual movie night with your partner or have drinks with your\nfriends through the lens \u2013 this is a great app to maintain a social life from\nyour own home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also play games and quizzes with your friends in the app and while on video, giving you something else to do when you\u2019re not sure what to say but not yet ready to get off of the phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MICROSOFT\nTEAMS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Originally created as way to let businesses communicate and\nallow people to have business meetings but recently it\u2019s come into its own as\nbeing a communication platform for friends and families who have no other way\nto talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can have several individual chats or one mass chat \u2013 it\u2019s\nentirely up to you. It has a pretty simple interface and the chats are easy to\nnavigate. With it\u2019s own GIF and Emoji options in-chat, you can express emotions\nand feelings all in one place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a video calling functionality which allows you to call\npeople and see them on the screen. Although you can have more than 4 people in\na call, you can only see 4 people at a time \u2013 this is usually decided by the\nones who are talking or making the most noise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZOOM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although it was originally created as a meeting space for work conference calls, it has become a lot more popular in recent weeks as people need to find new ways to stay in touch. The free version allows you to have 40-minute calls, whereas longer calls will need a subscription. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NETFLIX\nPARTY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Is a new Google extension that allows you to watch all your\nfavourite TV shows on your Google chrome browser with your friends and talk\nlike you used to! Though you can\u2019t physically be in the same room and watch\n\u2018Tiger King\u2019 together, you can both watch it online and still dish about it\nlike you would if you were in the same room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A really great way to keep people doing what they used to do, albeit in a slightly different way. Download the extension<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, these aren\u2019t the only apps you can use to communicate\nwith your friends and family, the list is endless with Facebook, WhatsApp,\nSnapchat and so on. It\u2019s important you stay in touch with your friends and\nfamily virtually if you can\u2019t do it face to face so pick your favourite app and\nget in touch with your loved ones.
