Travel News

What a great start to 2024 as we share the fabulous news that Jake Seage has joined the Situ team as Account Director of Business Travel. Reporting directly to Managing Director, Rebecca Gonzaga, Jake will be responsible for overseeing our ever-growing portfolio of corporate accounts, identifying ways to add value, simplifying processes where needed, and generally adding to the well-recognised Situ ‘booking brilliant’ culture and magic that we are delighted to be so well known for by our clients.

A highly active member of the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP)

Jake Seage is no stranger to the world of extended stay accommodation. Jake’s industry experience spans some eleven years, most recently, working at STAY (the London-based lifestyle aparthotel and co-working brand) where he has led the sales and reservations teams for the past three years. Jake has also been a highly active member of the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP), helping them to drive forward their new and innovative programme of events – which he will continue to do although will step down from the position of Deputy Chair, in accordance with the requirements of the organisation’s constitution.

Exciting to be an official part of Team Situ ‘led by head and heart’

It’s been a whirlwind couple of first weeks for Jake, but when we finally caught up with him and asked him how things were going, he said, “Having been a huge fan of working with Situ as a partner for over 10 years, it is so exciting to be an official part of Team Situ ‘led by head and heart’ by Phil Stapleton and Rebecca Gonzaga. As Situ continues to grow and evolve, and with a team of truly enterprising souls, I look forward to working with our clients to ensure we become ever better champions of connection, and that we remain the first choice for our new and existing clients.”

Rebecca expressed her delight in having Jake join the Situ team. She stated, “We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome such a well-respected and knowledgeable professional. We are looking forward to unleashing Jake’s talents and energy, considering him a key player in propelling our business forward and realising our ambitious plans.”

Jake anticipates a demanding and dynamic year ahead for the extended stay accommodation sector. The industry is set to face challenges due to budget constraints affecting accommodation operators, who are grappling with rising costs, while travel buyers strive to find value and navigate stretched budgets. Amid these financial pressures, Jake recognises the ongoing importance of prioritising traveller wellbeing. Companies are keen to fulfil their duty of care obligations and address the specific needs of multi-generational workforces on the move.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

Furthermore, Jake emphasises that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations rightly remain at the forefront of both buyers’ and suppliers’ priorities. He loves Situ’s ESG initiative, the ‘Be More Starfish’ programme, underscoring the significance of incorporating ESG principles into the broader equation for both industry buyers and suppliers.

So welcome to the team, Jake – and as an aside – we love that you once sat in Graham Norton’s infamous Red Chair on live TV, told a story about your hamster’s funeral, and got to walk! Kudos😊
