London Underground

This bar, located in the New Town humbly claims to be “the newest, coolest party bar in the centre of the city”. As well as “Prague’s premier British themed entertainment venue”.

It offers a great selection of bottled beers! This place has live music, karaoke, DJ sessions, comedy nights and TV screenings of UK sports fixtures.

Hemingway

The author Ernest Hemingway was well known for his hard-drinking, as well as for his celebrated works of fiction. He duly gives his name to this Old Town bar that offers one of the city’s best ranges of cocktails and sparkling wines. Inevitably the Hemingway Daiquiri is one of the drinks they serve.

Parlour

For our third greatest bar on our ‘best bars in Prague’ guide, we return to the Nove Mesto (New Town). The area is centred around the famous Wenceslas Square. Parlour is one of the city’s ‘hidden gems’ and it’s said to be very difficult to find the secluded entrance, but it’s well worth doing your research to make sure you find this place.

Here, the focus is very much on the drinks. With the only music played here likely to be some jazz records at a low volume, so you won’t need to yell at your drinking companions just to be heard here. The bartenders are only too willing to help you choose the right drink to suit your palate. Local beers and martinis are some of their specialities.

Bugsy’s

On the edge of the Jewish Quarter, this bar uses the slogan ‘Living Cocktails’. Its menu also says that ‘you never know which drink will be your last’. The cocktails here really can be described as unique, with the menu including Champs Elysees (cognac, dubonnet, herb liqueur and bitter) and Horse’s Kick (cognac, lime, bitter, orange and yerba mate). Besides its many cocktails, Bugsy’s offers wines, champagne, whiskies and beers.

Tretter’s

Just north of Old Town Square is this Prague institution that aims to evoke the atmosphere of downtown New York in the 1920s. World-renowned mixologist Michael Tretter offers 150 classic cocktails alongside 50 of his own creations. He hosts regular cocktail-making classes where you can learn his secrets. Zido (cachaca, white rum, coconut syrup, lime and papaya juice) is one of his signature mixes.

Beer Point

This Wenceslas Square establishment offers at least a dozen local Czech beers on draught. It allows you to taste the beers before you decide to purchase. It also so has its own in-house payment card system, where you can load value onto your card.

Cloud 9 Sky Bar & Lounge

This is a high-end rooftop cocktail bar, one of the best bars in Prague! From 40 metres up you get a great view of the adjacent Vltava River and the rest of the city. It often plays house music and is a frequent destination for girls’ nights out. Gins, whiskies, wines, spirits and liqueurs supplement the extensive cocktail menu. here signature selections include Ginger Rain (ginger syrup, ginger marmalade, lime juice and mineral water).

The restaurant at Cloud 9 specialises in burgers and vegetarian dishes such as beetroot and goat’s cheese Arancini.

Pauwel Kwak Bierhuis

Located in the Smichov district, this bar specialises in Belgian beers, such as Monte Cristo (a strong dark ale) and Augustijn Donker (a brown ale), alongside several fruit beers.

A limited selection of mostly meat-based meals is also served here.

Vinotéka U Mouřenína

For our final selection, we’re back in the Stare Mesto (Old Town). Many of the city’s bars specialise in beer and/or cocktails, but this is perhaps Prague’s best wine bar.

Here, there’s an extensive selection of reds, whites, roses and sparkling wines from the Czech Republic, France and other countries. You can sample many of these in one visit via the Tasting Experience option, where the knowledgeable staff can also provide you with meat and cheese platters that best complement your drink selections.
