About Kuala Lumpur

Why Choose Serviced Apartments in Kuala Lumpur?

If you’re a business traveller who wants their own private space, Situ’s range of serviced apartments in Kuala Lumpur could be just what you are looking for. Unlike standard hotel rooms, our serviced apartments offer an unparalleled level of comfort, security, and independence for corporate guests. It really is a ‘home from home’ experience unrivalled by even luxury apartments in Kuala Lumpur.

An aparthotel in Kuala Lumpur offers all the convenience of a serviced apartment but with the additional facilities of a hotel, such as a reception desk, business meeting rooms, a gym or even a spa.

Business travellers can expect apartments to have their own fully equipped kitchen and dining and laundry facilities; and also access to free wi-fi. In many cases, you also get an allocated parking space and an on-site housekeeping service.

'Choice' really is the keyword here – you choose a property that offers what you want. For example, some business travellers prefer a quiet apartment location away from the bustle of the city centre, while others want a central location in Kuala Lumpur city centre that might be close to the office in a walking distance. Even the best hotel in Kuala Lumpur is unlikely to offer the level of choice available with a serviced apartment.

Where is Kuala Lumpur?

Kuala Lumpur – often abbreviated to KL – is the capital of Malaysia. The population of the city itself is approximately 1.5 million, but its wider metropolitan area is home to more than seven million people – more than one-fifth of the country’s entire population.

The city lies in the south west of the Malay peninsula, slightly inland from the Straits of Malacca coast. The country’s second largest metropolitan area, George Town/ Penang, is 220 miles north of KL.

Khota Bharu, another of the largest cities, is 341 miles away, close to the country’s northern border with Thailand. Kuching, the largest city in Eastern Malaysia, is 608 miles to the east of the capital. Malaysia is divided into two portions, separated by the South China Sea. Approximately 80% of the country’s population speak one of the dialects of the Malay language. However, English is Malaysia’s second official language and many of KL’s inhabitants speak English very well. This is especially true amongst the business community.

There are direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from the UK and many cities in Asia. Once you’ve arrived, the fast and frequent city rail system really is excellent and conveniently located.

Business in Kuala Lumpur

The 451-metre-high Petronas Towers, the headquarters of the Petronas oil and gas company, symbolise Kuala Lumpur’s status as a major economic hub. Between 1998 and 2004, they were the tallest buildings in the world, and they are still the tallest twin towers in the world.

Malaysia has one of the 40 largest economies in the world, and KL contributes a large proportion of the country’s GDP. The city has one of the fastest growing regional economies in South East Asia.

Malaysia’s democratic government continues to provide tax incentives to foster an attractive business environment – newly-established SMEs are exempt from taxes for the first five years. Average monthly office rental costs in the capital are a fraction of what you might expect for a city of this size.

Principal industries in the Malaysian capital include banking and financial services, electronics, information technology, tourism, and the manufacturing of goods such as automobiles and food and drink.

Some of the large employers with a presence in the city are Petronas, Shell, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Nestle, Citi, Accenture, and the big four global accountancy firms – EY, Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC. You’ll also find Al-Rajhi Bank in KL – the world’s largest Islamic finance institution.

If you are relocating for work, you might want to take your time looking for permanent accommodation in Kuala Lumpur. In this case, serviced apartments can be a great stepping stone while you get your bearings.

Things to Do in Kuala Lumpur

They call Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) the Golden Triangle, where you can enjoy shopping, sightseeing, and entertainment. The Petronas Towers dominate the city’s skyline. During the day, you can take the lift up to the Observation Deck. Make sure you also see the towers and views of the city when they are lit up at night .

Many of Kuala Lumpur’s best attractions are nature-related experiences. Apart from theme parks, at Aquaria KLCC, you can see more than 5,000 different creatures. The Bird Park claims to have more than 3,000 birds, while you can see more than 120 different species at the Butterfly Park.

The former Railway Station boasts some breathtaking architecture, and inside you can learn about the city’s transport heritage and see some antique steam trains and fire engines.

Another architectural gem is the early 20th century Jamek Mosque, which is a fine example of Moorish design. Besides this fantastic Islamic building, the city is also home to the Thean Hou Temple, a stunning six-tiered Buddhist place of worship.
