Where is Hoxton?

Hoxton is the place to be if you are working in IT, or in media, arts and fashion. The district forms part of the fashionable Borough of Hackney. It is situated just north of the City of London, next to the hipster location of Shoreditch. At the southern end of Hoxton is the famous Old Street roundabout, nowadays known as East London Tech City.

The A501 in the south of Hoxton allows you to drive through Central London and down across the Thames to the south. Follow the A10 to go further into North London and towards Cambridge.

Google, Facebook, and Amazon have established research centres and invested in business incubators to boost the development of digital businesses. Tech start-ups can take advantage of the proximity of such giants, as well as the opportunities of the financial district.

Transport

By Air

The nearest airport to Hoxton is London City. It’s twelve miles away, and travelling by car is the best option as there is no public transport.

There are direct trains to Gatwick and Stansted airports, while for Heathrow there is a change at Paddington. Luton airport can only be accessed by coach via Finchley Road Station. All the five airports of London have good connections with Liverpool Street station, which is a short walk away from Hoxton.

By Rail

The southern tip of Hoxton is the Old Street train station, serviced by Great Northern Railway and the Overground suburban rail networks. The station offers an excellent service between London boroughs, however, any travel to major UK cities will involve a change at one of the other principal London train stations.

By Metro

Old Street station is part of the Northern Line of the London Underground, between Angel and Bank. Other major underground stations are Liverpool Street and Barbican, connecting travellers to Central London and the West End.

All public transport services in and around Hoxton can be paid for with an Oyster card, as Old Street is in Zone 1 of the London Travel Card.

By Bus

Hoxton has excellent bus services with five different lines connecting to the neighbouring boroughs. Hoxton is also part of a shared bike scheme for London, and there is a network of designated cycling routes around the area.
