Situated within the City of Westminster in London, the district of Victoria is known first and foremost as a transport hub, and there is plenty of short term accommodation in Victoria for this purpose. Between London Victoria Railway Station – which primarily runs services southwards to destinations like Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Eastbourne, Portsmouth and suburban areas just to the south of London – the associated underground station and Victoria Bus Station, it’s a popular spot with long-distance visitors, commuters and for those looking to springboard to other locations around London.

The district’s central position, bordered by Vauxhall Bridge Road, make serviced apartments in Victoria an excellent jumping-off point for leisure visitors. Westminster is right next door – two stops eastbound on the Circle and District lines – where you’ll find the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, as well as the Churchill War Rooms, part of the Imperial War Museum. Head from there up Whitehall and you will pass Downing Street, Horseguards Parade and soon end up in Trafalgar Square.

However, if you instead head past Big Ben and across Westminster Bridge, you’ll quickly spot the imposing sight of the London Eye, which is next to The London Dungeon and SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Buying an Explorer Pass will save money across up to seven associated attractions. If you instead get off the tube one stop earlier, at St James’s Park, you’re a short walk from St James’s Park, The Mall and the royal residences, most notably Buckingham Palace. Indeed, depending upon where your corporate accommodation is located, Buckingham Palace may only be a short walk from where you are staying.

But for those ardent shoppers staying in our furnished short lets, jump onto the Victoria Northbound Line and travel just one stop to Green Park – again, great for access to the royal residences, but also at the edge of the Mayfair and Soho districts. One more stop up and you’re up to Oxford Circus on Oxford Street.

So, we’ve established that if you’re coming to temporary housing, Victoria can be a great jumping-off point. However, there is also plenty to be enjoyed right on your doorstep. The other thing that Victoria is known for is its theatres, most notably the Victoria Palace Theatre on Victoria Street, which was purpose built as a theatre over a hundred years ago, now with a capacity of over 1500 people. Major productions in recent years include Billy Elliot the Musical, Grease and Fame. The Art Deco Apollo Victoria Theatre was originally a cinema and has been a theatre since 1981, it is probably best known for its long-running productions of Wicked.

If you prefer the cinema to the theatre, the Curzon Victoria is well worth a look, a sophisticated experience whose lounge bars are almost as much of a draw as the movies themselves, it has five intimate auditoriums.

There is plenty of good shopping in Victoria for those staying in our city apartments, some of it just dotted around on the smaller streets off Victoria Street and Vauxhall Bridge Road, as well as on the main streets themselves. Probably the most notable shopping centres are Create Victoria on Victoria Street and Victoria Place, next to the train station. Although the glass and steel Cardinal Place is also worth a look. Of course, the train station itself also has plenty of shops and is an excellent place to try out for eateries, too.

Victoria also has some good pubs and nightspots. Greenwood Sports bar has plenty of enormous screens for watching events, while The Qube Project is s basement club which hosts some of the best DJs.
