About Woolwich

Overview

A little out of the main crush of London, with a riverside location, Woolwich is a pleasant area undergoing some meaningful rejuvenation that helps keep the spirit of its rich military history alive.

About Woolwich

Corporate travellers seeking serviced apartments in Woolwich will find an attractive area right next to the River Thames. With the Isle of Dogs less than two miles to the west and London City Airport just across the river, Woolwich’s position a little further out from the centre of the city doesn’t really feel like much of a disadvantage. For one thing, the South Circular Road runs right through the centre of the district, and, although there isn’t a tube station, over ground services and the Docklands Light Railway provide adequate connections with the centre. Plus, there’s always the river!

Woolwich is part of the London plan, one of 35 major centres within the city that have the possibility to become major metropolitan centres in their own right. And this seems conformation of what a lot of people have been saying about Woolwich for a long time. There are many areas of London that are often described as ‘up-and-coming’, and in some cases this doesn’t mean an awful lot. In fact, for a long time, Woolwich was probably one of those places, too. But development at the Royal Woolwich Arsenal is going to make a great deal of new riverside housing available in the area and its completion will coincide with the finishing of the Elizabeth Line, a brand new train line set to revitalise transport in London and Woolwich will have its own station.

Rife with traditional pubs, some with a great riverside location, Woolwich has an older and more English feel. Its military heritage can still be seen in places, with many of the old buildings being given Grade II listed status.
